Acne can be highly stubborn and distressing. The pimples can not only be painful but also leave behind ugly scars. It is very important to make smart choices especially when Facial skin is concerned. Ayurveda for acne provides abundant holistic and natural ways to fight various skin problems and keep your skin healthy.

Acne is caused due to excess production of oil from the sebaceous glands leading to the blockage of hair follicles. Ayurveda has many several natural approaches that may help control acne. In Ayurveda, acne is referred to as ‘Yauvan Pidika,’ and is believed to be a manifestation of an aggravated Pitta dosha. In addition to your face, acne can affect shoulders and your back area, too.
According to Ayurveda, there are three fundamental doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha, and good health is considered to be a perfect state of balance of between these three doshas. Acne is said to be an aggravation of pitta dosha, which acts under the skin and leads to heated toxins, further breaking out as acne. To keep acne at bay, one should adopt a pitta-pacifying diet. Those who see frequent outbreaks of acne, should avoid spicy and fermented foods. Heavily fried and sour foods should are also best avoided.

The primary cause is impairment of Agni which leads to Imbalance of all the three doshas, predominantly the Pitta dosha, which further vitiates the rakta and meda dhatus (blood and fat tissues). Vitiated doshas produce toxins that block the Srotas (Microscopic channels) of the affected areas leading to pimple formation. The condition of acne can also be aggravated by excessive intake of oily, spicy, salty and sour foods, Constipation and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Even if the Scalp has more Oil and that can lead to Acne and Pimples.
Yoga can be used to heal acne by stimulating digestion and encouraging elimination. When your digestive power is strong and you’re able to eliminate waste in a timely manner, the body digests and expels that unwanted toxins or aama.
It’s best to practice asanas that target the mid-abdominal region and pitta, as its seat is in the stomach. As anyone with acne has likely experienced, stress tends to show up on the skin. Any pose that compresses, twists, or stretches the abdomen such as Bow pose or Cobra pose, helps the digestive organs to better function.
When it comes to acne, pranayama is used to reduce stress. With your face naturally being exposed to others, acne can make you feel self-conscious and extremely frustrated. Unfortunately, aggravated emotions don’t help acne in the slightest. But pranayama practiced daily helps to soothe the mind and emotions.
